Long Overdue Update

It has been awhile since I have updated, in fact right now I am back in St Pete, but I did end up switching campaigns and I went with John Edwards instead of Kucinich, (in fact that is why I have not been able to update since we did actual work there). I believe in both of their messages, but there was absolutely NO organization at the Kucinich Headquarters and the people that we were canvassing did not appear to care at all about the election. Also the people that I was working with at the Edwards campaign are a entirely different type of people, by that I mean they seem like what they are passionate about and understand their candidate.

All good things must come to an end:(

After 2 marathon days at the end there (19 hours on Monday and roughly 17 on Tuesday) it is all over. We laughed allot, we've cried allot, and we campaigned our hearts out, but now it is back to life, back to reality. This has truly been a great experience that I will remember forever. While I do miss all of the people that I met and all of the excitement at the end I am glad to be home.

***CENSORED TITLE***

Well I Hate to admit it but, I am no longer working on the Dennis Kucinich campaign:( I don't know if it was the lack of materials, the hopelessness of the candidate, the smell of patchoulilli or the constant ***CENSORED SENTENCE*** but whatever it was it was just too much for me and I hads to calls it quits(yes those are are plural). All Kidding aside what it actually was....was a combination of all I just listed plus the fact that even the campaign manager said that this was the worst campaign that he had ever worked on in his life.

Good Night and Good Luck.

I Think I Gots My Passions Bizack!!

It weird how easily we all can forget. My reasoning for choosing Kucinich in the beginning was, among other things, the fact that he reminds me of myself a small bit. He does this by saying what he believes in, whether it will appeal to everyone isn't the important, what is important is that it is what he believes in, and that is the way I am. If you talk to me for just 10 minutes you will here fuck and shit more often then you could imagine, but I believe those words are necessary to describe many situations, you may also be stunned at what I say yet people always talk about how the can connect with me and how they like me, people say the same of Kucinich, yet I doubt he says fuck and shit allot. Gotta run....I'm out!!

Apocolyptic Forecast

And so it goes the Forecast for St. Pete, 29 degrees, forecast for Daytona Beach 19 degrees and SNOW!!! Forecast for Nashua, NH 4 degrees with a wind chill of -15. Finally a forecast for Joel, continued Flue Symptoms with the possibility of insanity due a massive reading and paper assignment combined with the cold heart of a close "Friend" and the tough decision of what campaign to continue on. When I hear all of that it makes want to lookout for frogs falling from the sky and for four men riding into town on a white, red, black, and pale horse(s).

Well hopefully this is not the Apocalypse, but if it was I would just be like eh, whatever. I took yesterday off to rest a little, while it did help I am still a bit miserable feeling. I'm not sure what to do about the campaign, It seems as though I will give the other Kucinich office a chance, maybe it will be better organized then the other. While I highly doubt it we shall see. Till we meet again.

Well........Maybe his Interns believe in aliens!! Or are aliens!!

Day number 3 on this godforsaken island and I'm not sure if I will..........Sorry I thought I was on survivor for a minute there but I'm actually still in New Hampshire. I just recieved word that I will be able to switch campaigns and I will be working with John Edwards now. Let me tell you why I wanted to do this. When I arrived at my job yesterday there were interns sleeping on the floor at 10:30 and then it took us a good 1/2 an hour to get going. Latter I realized that there were people who were still sleeping in the other room at 4 in the afternoon. Also, a girl was assigned just 2 very simple tasks to do, and she was unable to accomplsih them, and these were her only tasks the whole time I was there. First it was her job to get the food orders from everyone, I informed her that I could not do dairy and she was quite happy to find an alternative, but needless to say she was unable to get the food to the headquarters after 3 hours of work and anticipation. Her other task was to find out about laws involved with canvassing, this took her another 3 hours and when I left the fortied hippy coumpound she was still working on that. Perhaps the edwards campaign shall be different, we shall only hope.

"Be the Change that you want to see in the world"...we are

“This is a struggle for the soul of the Democratic Party, which in too many cases has become so corporate and identified with corporate interests that you can't tell the difference between Democrats and Republicans.” -Dennis Kucinich

It resembled the Black Panther safe house from Forest Gump, that and a combination of a punk rock squat house. In the living quarters area people are sleeping in bunk beds, air mattresses, and beds on the floor. Some of the tables consist of two boxes and a piece of plywood. The cleanliness was that of a stereotypical college dorm, well that is if the room consisted of 10 people with ADHD. Oh yeah did I mention that this is a campaign headquarters? Well it is, but the crazy thing is that.......I like it. I like how grass roots this is and while some of the people there may be, well lets just say that they are over driven, there is a passion there that I have never seen before. These people want to make this country....NO make that this world, a better place and they are doing it by dedicating there time, and in some cases a small portion of their live to campaigning for Dennis Kucinich One person has been living there for 4 months and after that he will be going to North Carolina.

Sometimes it is the little things in life that I like the best, after going on the initial tour of the Squat, I mean the campaign headquarters I was shown the kitchen, he showed me the food that they bought and that other people had donated and he said that I could have anything in here "as we are very Communal," I liked that.
